Here, Mayer is at Druids on his way to a sixth place finish in Ken Tyrrell’s Cooper. Tragically, Mayer suffered a fatal crash, in Australia during the Tasman Series, the next year in February 1964.

On pole is the Cobra Daytona Coupe driven by Bob Holbert and Dave McDonald, while next to it is another Shelby American entry, the Cobra driven by Tommy Hitchcock, Prince Zourab Tchkotoua and Jo Shlesser. The Daytona Coupe retired after a fire in the pits, while the Hitchcock Cobra would finish in 10th. Behind the Daytona Coupe is the eventual winner, a Ferrari 250GTO/64 driven by the somewhat unusual pairing of Pedro Rodriguez and Phil Hill.
